PVC film lamination is the process of covering a print with a clear plastic film by gluing the film on both sides of the piece to completely enclose it in plastic. This coating protects the print and adds strength and stiffness. Lamination resists moisture, smudges, stains and tears.
Lamination protects printed materials in environments where the material may encounter dirt, grease, liquids or other damaging substances, such as factories or car garages. In these cases, the lamination film may extend beyond the edges of the printed part to form a protective barrier around the edges of the part.
Lamination is the bonding of plastic film together on either side of the print. There are two different lamination methods, wet bonding and dry bonding. Regardless of the method or lamination used, it will take time for the material to dry in the oven. The lamination and drying process may take 24 to 48 hours.
